Mississippi State Chapter was organized March 13, 1967 with 9 founding chapters, A to I. Today, we are proud of our 21 chapters and 672 members throughout the state. We look forward to the challenge of the future which is to keep moving forward in the continuing work of our sisterhood.
The P.E.O. Sisterhood was founded 139 years ago in 1869 on the campus of Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa. It has grown to become an international organization with broad philanthropic and cultural aims and an ever-increasing interest in furthering educational opportunities for women.

The gift of P.E.O. is a legacy originating from a group of young women more than 139 years ago. It is the gift of friendship and love - of service and philanthropy.

Our President's theme for the year is : PEO “SCORES” FOR WOMEN
By helping educate women, P.E.O. has given them knowledge – knowledge of who they are and who they can become. This knowledge gives women confidence in themselves, inspires them to do their best, and motivates them to do more for themselves and others. This knowledge overflows to families and associates; therefore, the domino begins to touch even more people.
Sisters have done this together, but we must not rest on our history. In the future, we must continue this legacy of achievement. We must not look to the sister beside us to continue this legacy; each of us must accept the challenge!
As you go about your efforts of women educating women, I encourage you to stretch out of your comfort zone. Speak to everyone you know about our projects: to the cashiers in the stores you frequent; to the servers in the restaurants you visit; to the personnel in your doctors’ offices, and to your families and neighbors. Many of these young women are in college for the first time or have re-entered college and need financial assistance.
The ways to “SCORE” for women are endless. Score yourself a point for any tangible way you personally are promoting P.E.O. or our projects into the future.
