Mississippi State Chapter was organized March 13, 1967 with 9 founding chapters, A to I. Today, we are proud of our 21 chapters and 672 members throughout the state. We look forward to the challenge of the future which is to keep moving forward in the continuing work of our sisterhood.
The P.E.O. Sisterhood was founded 139 years ago in 1869 on the campus of Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa. It has grown to become an international organization with broad philanthropic and cultural aims and an ever-increasing interest in furthering educational opportunities for women.

Our President's theme for the year is : P.E.O.--Lighting the Way for Women since 1869
GOALS
1) Reach out to an inactive sister, or a sister who rarely attends meetings. She may need the love you send her way. This could be through an email, a card, or a phone call.
2) Reach out to a friend with whom you could share the gift of PEO by inviting her to a social. All of us were given that gift by a special person that we know.
3)Find one potential applicant for a project--MSS, STAR, ELF, PCE, Scholars, or even one young lady to whom you could spread the messageabout Cottey. Once you've talked to the person, give that name tothe proper committee in your chapter so that they can follow up.
