Mississippi State Chapter P.E.O. Sisterhood
LYNETTE CURRY COTTEY SCHOLARSHIP
The Mississippi chapters of the P.E.O. Sisterhood sponsor the Lynette Curry Cottey Scholarship (LCCS). It honors Lynette Curry who served as state president 2016-17.
The purpose of the scholarship is to assist a female MS high school graduate to attend Cottey College. The fund shall be maintained by voluntary contributions, memorial gifts and bequests. The fund shall be held in the P.E.O. Foundation and the amount granted for each one year scholarship shall be determined by the Mississippi State Executive Board based on the amount available as shown on the Annual Activity Statement and shall be paid directly to Cottey College. All expenses incurred in administering the fund shall be borne by the fund.
REQUIREMENTS FOR LCCS APPLICANTS
Scholarships shall be granted on the basis of character, scholastic standing, high purpose, P.E.O. chapter recommendation and chapter voice vote.
A citizen of the United States, Mississippi resident and MS high school graduate
Accepted for admission by Cottey College.
Upon the recommendation of Cottey College, renewals may be made to returning students who have maintained a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
Applications for scholarship renewals shall be given preference over new applications.
However, such preference shall not prohibit the granting of partial awards to both renewal and new applicants.
Any year, after scholarship(s) are awarded for the coming academic year, any funds in excess of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) which may have accured toward scholarships from the investment of this endowment shall be given to the general Scholarship Fund of Cottey College.
